SYR4: Goodbye 20^th Century is a double album of covers of Avant-garde recordings by Sonic Youth and collaborators.

SYR4 features works by avant-garde classical composers such as John Cage, Yoko Ono, Steve Reich, and Christian Wolff played by Sonic Youth along with several collaborators from the modern avant-garde music scene, such as Christian Marclay, William Winant, Wharton Tiers,Takehisa Kosugi and others. The album received mixed reviews, but most critics praised the group's efforts at popularizing and reinterpreting the composers' works.

SYR3: Invito Al Ĉielo is an EP by Sonic Youth. It was the third in a series of experimental releases put out on the band's own SYR label, leading up to the release of their 1998 record A Thousand Leaves. For SYR3 the band collaborated with producer and musician Jim O'Rourke; his continuing work with the group after SYR3 resulted in O'Rourke becoming an official member of Sonic Youth by 2002's Murray Street.

SYR3 follows the band's tradition of having the liner notes for SYR releases written in foreign languages, in this case using Esperanto. However the words that Kim Gordon is heard singing are in English.

SYR2: Slaapkamers Met Slagroom is an EP by Sonic Youth. It was the second in a series of mostly instrumental and experimental releases put out on the band's own SYR label. SYR2 follows the band's tradition of having the liner notes of SYR releases written in foreign languages, in this case Dutch. "Slaapkamers met slagroom" is Dutch for "bedrooms with whipped cream".

SYR1: Anagrama est un EP du groupe Sonic Youth. C'est le premier volet de la série SYR du groupe, il a été publié en 1997. Sa couleur est le rouge, et sa langue est le français. C'est le disque le plus court de la série ( 22:36 seulement ), et il contient 4 morceaux, tous instrumentaux. Les trois premières pistes sont des morceaux que l'on pourrait qualifier de "classiques", dans le sens où ils utilisent le schéma habituel du groupe (2 guitares/1 basse/1 batterie), tandis que le dernier est constitué de parties bruitistes suivies de riffs très répétitifs
